Department Summary:
The School of Social Work at Bridgewater State university seeks candidates for a one-year full-time, benefited, temporary (up to 3 years) faculty position.

The School of Social Work (SSW) has thriving BSW and MSW programs. The SSW is dedicated to supporting diversity and inclusion in its faculty and students, to promoting social justice and equity, and reflects this emphasis in its curricular and co-curricular activities. Current total enrollment is approximately 550. Our programs are staffed by 16 full-time faculty, more than 25 part-time faculty, 4 field education specialists and an associate dean. Our programs are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The SSW faculty is involved in research, scholarship, and service in key campus initiatives that focus on social justice, institutional diversity, service learning, teaching and learning, mentoring and more. The SSW program is known for its faculty’s passion for teaching and learning and capacity to provide support and mentoring to its students. The social work students we serve bring many strengths, and are capable, purposeful and fully committed to their studies. Successful candidates will be faculty members who can work with their colleagues to help meet the mission of the school in serving and supporting our racially and ethnically diverse campus community.

Essential Duties:
The School of Social Work at Bridgewater State University seeks qualified applicants for a full-time, temporary, 1 Year faculty position. This position may be renewable for up to 3 years, dependent upon university needs. Candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities.

1. Teaching 12 credits per (3-4 courses) per semester as assigned by the School of Social Work chairperson.

2. Advising undergraduate and/or graduate students as assigned.

3. Committee work as assigned.

4. Availability to teach Bachelors or Masters’ level courses which may be days, evenings, and/or Saturdays.

Successful candidates will use innovative and effective teaching and learning techniques, and resources that support the development of appropriate knowledge and skills through digital (online and technology-enhanced) delivery.



Required Qualifications:
1. MSW degree
2. Teaching experience in social work
3. A demonstrated commitment, through research, practice or teaching, to diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, and community engagement
4. Experience in teaching relevant subjects at the undergraduate level, with evidence of innovative, inclusive, and effective teaching, and ability to engage and inspire traditional and post-traditional students.



Preferred Qualifications:
1. PhD in Social Work or Social Welfare or related field. ABD candidates will be considered.
2. Social Work Licensure
3. Ability to teach across the social work curriculum: practice, field seminar, policy, human behavior, diversity and oppression, and/or research.
4. Experience teaching hybrid and/or online modalities.
