POSITION:

Full-Time Temporary Faculty in Sculpture and Drawing: The Department of Art invites applications for a full-time, one-year appointment to the position of Lecturer.

Ideal candidates should possess expertise in sculpture practice, along with the necessary skills to instruct fundamental methods and materials in both sculpture and drawing. Specifically, candidates should be capable of teaching Foundation Sculpture and Drawing II, tailoring course content to their individual strengths and areas of interest. Proficiency in clay modeling, mold-making, carving, construction and assemblage, wire sculpture, and drawing composition is essential, accompanied by a commitment to fostering critical thinking skills.

We are looking for an effective communicator and collaborative team player who will contribute to the growth of the sculpture area. Our sculpture discipline aims to cultivate students' abilities in critical thinking, object-making, construction, and spatial exploration, providing a foundation for further exploration in areas such as installation, clay modeling, mold-making and casting, construction and assemblage, and drawing composition. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of and experience with meeting the diverse needs of our student population through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.

This is an academic year appointment beginning Fall 2024. This position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master of Fine Arts Degree in Sculpture or terminal degree in related field. Evidence of ability to collaborate with faculty across a variety of disciplines. Evidence of effective teaching at the college level. Ability to teach Foundation Sculpture and Foundation Drawing. Demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A clear demonstration of artistic and/or scholarly achievement; a significant portfolio of creative work with research interests in emerging areas of practice and theory; evidence of curricular and program development

COMPENSATION:

Salary is based on qualifications and experience. As a member of the 23-campus CSU System, we offer an extremely competitive benefits package.

Newly hired lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the salary schedule and others are normally placed in Range 2. Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules are prorated based on the number of units assigned and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.     CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CLEARANCE NOTICE
