Church Bookkeeper
Part-time, 20 hour/week.
General Description:
Serves as the Financial Assistant/bookkeeper of the church working in concert with the Treasurer and the Stewardship/Finance Committee. Is responsible for handling and coordinating a variety of business activities including but not limited to: contributions, payroll, accounts receivable and payable, general ledger, payroll taxes, health and pension dues, operating and designated accounts and reserve funds.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
1. To obtain and record pledges made during the annual stewardship drive.
2. To prepare quarterly giving statements.
3. To enter weekly contributions to donor designated funds.
4. To keep confidential all financial contribution information.
5. To enter all invoices submitted for payment, process checks, secure treasurer's signature, and prepare for mailing.
6. To submit to the church treasurer a listing of all checks written during the week.
7. To prepare monthly reports for the Stewardship and Finance Committee and individual ministry teams (as requested).
8. To process payroll on a biweekly basis.
9. To prepare biweekly, quarterly, and yearly payroll tax forms and make necessary deposits, and prepare W-2's and 1099's at year-end.
10. Assist the chair of Stewardship and Finance/Treasurer with the yearly budget.
11. To prepare for and cooperate with the audit of financial records.
12. To prepare year-end financial reports for annual meeting.
13. Meet weekly with the treasurer to report on financial activities.
14. Post online contributions to donor's giving statements.
15. To produce, file, and distribute year-end contribution reports by January 31.
16. Maintain all financial files in a neat and orderly fashion for all invoices, correspondence, reports, and personnel.
17. Learn how to use Church Windows (Accounting Software Program) properly and effectively, along with being proficient in Quickbooks.
18. Regular and reliable attendance.
19. Customer/client focused ability to communicate proficiently.

Supervision:
The bookkeeper, as a staff person, is under the supervision of the pastor/Head of staff and is responsible to the church treasurer in all financial matters.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a part-time position of 20 hours. The weekly schedule will be determined by the head of staff, in consultation with the church treasurer. The schedule will be within FPC's business hours of Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-4:00 pm.
Education and Experience:
REQUIRED: High school graduation, including business courses at high school or college level, or equivalent combination of training and experience. Three years' experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or recording fiscal transactions.
PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in business or related field. Five years accounting experience.
