Geotechnical Graduate Engineer - EIT
Gessner Engineering, LLC has an opening for the position of Geotechnical Graduate Engineer - EIT (Ref# GGE613PP).
Work Location: 401 W. 26th Street, Suite 3, Bryan, TX 77803.
Job Duties: Responsible for assisting with cost estimates for new projects, writing, and reviewing proposals based on client-provided information and a brief study of surrounding sites. Perform geotechnical engineering calculations such as bearing capacity for shallow and deep foundation elements, uplift forces and resistances, and lateral force evaluation (LPile parameters). Schedule projects, including contacting TX811, clients, subcontract drillers, traffic control, and/or GPRS. Review field and laboratory results for Quality Assurance / Quality Control purposes, compiling results from both phases into the logs of borings and generating the geotechnical report, conducting EIT reviews. Calculate post-tensioned design parameters for the structural engineer (VOLFLO software). Calculate retaining wall design parameters, potential vertical rise (TxDOT method), and settlement analyses. Perform Global Stability Analyses for retaining walls and natural/man-made slopes (Geo5 software). Calculate design parameters for flexible and rigid pavements (ACI and AASHTO method, Streetpave 12, FPS 21). Improve the geotechnical department by updating templates, researching new technologies, and attending seminars.
Requirements: This position requires a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering. Position requires completion of graduate-level academic coursework/research in Geotechnical Site Investigation and Foundation Engineering. Texas Board of Professional Engineers EIT (Engineer in Training) Certification required. 40hrs/week.
