Beginning Salary: Based on Experience
Travel Required: 90-100%, applicant must be willing to travel to other clinics as needed
Knowledge/Skills Required:
Clinical, phlebotomy and injection practices and skills
Patient intake and data input into an EHR
Infection prevention techniques
Basic knowledge of the stages of physical growth and development, as well as chronic diseases, that occur across the life span.
Able to adapt and work with different provider practices and departments
Excellent communication skills
Experience with ImmTrac and immunizations
Duties:
Fill in as needed in any of our clinics.
Greet and welcome the patient in a pleasant, respectful, culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.
Perform all functions related to the clinical aspect of patient care.
Update patients' electronic health records with all necessary clinical data the provider needs for the visit.
Assure patient concerns are communicated to the provider.
Perform pre-visit chart reviews for required health indicators, vaccines, labs, etc. (pre-visit planning).
Provide clinical support to providers and clinical personnel.
Assist in completing medication refills, referrals, telephone encounters, prior authorizations, reconciliation of outstanding diagnostic and laboratory tests, and the associated documentation.
Prepare patient exam rooms by arranging, cleaning and re-filling essential medical supplies between each patient visit.
Collect and prepare specimens. Subsequently, record CLIA waived test results in the patient electronic health record.
Administer vaccine and therapeutic injections.
Assist with lab responsibilities.
Adhere to all HIPAA regulations in and outside of the clinic.
Participate in staff meetings, training and performance improvement strategies.
Comply with work schedule and attendance policy.
Demonstrate the standards of behavior in all interactions.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by a Clinic Manager and/or direct supervisor.
Education, Skills & Work Experience
Required: HS diploma or equivalent; current CPR certified or willing to become CPR certified within 30-60 days. Graduation from a Medical Assistant training course.
Minimum 6 month-1 year clinical setting experience.
Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish/English, Experience using electronic medical record systems
Licenses, Certifications or Registration
Required: Valid driver's license and a good driving record. Certification as a medical assistant
