Founded in 1916, Sacramento City College (SCC) is a multi-campus, urban college that consists of a 70-acre main campus across from William Land Park. Position Summary

The Los Rios Community College District is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for this temporary part-time (Adjunct) Faculty teaching assignment. This is an open until filled pool. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.

The adjunct faculty member shall be responsible for the following:teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean. The instructional assignment includes courses in Airframe and Power-plant Maintenance preparing students for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) aircraft mechanic certification. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for keeping all required FAA certificates current and in good standing, as well as maintaining required skills and knowledge applicable to the courses taught. The faculty member will also work closely with the Department Chair in order to keep the approved programs current with FAA regulations and to maintain required documentation.

Salary

$41.27 to $100.50 per hour. Rate determined by education requirement and type of assignment (lab/lecture/non lecture/substitute). LRCCD Salary Schedules

Assignment Responsibilities

The adjunct faculty member assignment responsibilities include: helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a part-time faculty member.

The instructional assignment may include, but is not limited to, teaching courses in all levels of Aeronautics at the college including:
  • Basic Electricity Fundamentals
  • Aircraft Sheetmetal Fabrication Fundamentals
  • Nondestructive Testing and Materials Fundamentals
The Aviation department maintains a focus on following areas: Large Aircraft Systems, Airframe Electrical Systems, Powerplant Electrical Systems, Ignition Systems, AC and DC Circuit Systems, Reciprocating Engines, Turbine Engines, Fuel Control, Fire Detection and Protection Systems.

Position Salary Information:
Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree, and upper/graduate level units earned per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract (the initial maximum placement is Class V, Step 1). For more information on the step placement process, please click here.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Have any bachelor's degree or higher AND two years of experience as an FAA certificated aircraft mechanic; OR any associate degree AND six years of experience as an FAA certificated aircraft mechanic; OR the equivalent.* The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment. All degrees must be from an accredited institution.
  2. Possess and maintain a current Federal Aviation Administration Mechanic certificate or an Airframe and Powerplant certificate by time of hire.
  3. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
