Project 55 Coordinator

The John H. Pace, Jr. ’39 Center for Civic Engagement prepares Princeton University undergraduate and graduate students to do service well by making meaningful connections through learning, experience, and reflection. The Pace Center prioritizes creating an equitable and empowering environment that encourages racial and social equity and justice. The Fellow will play an integral role in elevating and supporting the Pace Center's commitment to introduce and expand students' development and learning through service. The Fellow’s responsibilities will include support of first-year engagement and small group learning cohorts, as well as the opportunity to prepare students in service through pedagogical resources and reflection. The Fellow will encourage, support, and invite diverse perspectives in a commitment to the Center's principles of equity, respecting differences, and creating access and opportunity for all people and communities to thrive.

Student Development (75%)

• Explore and review Pace Center pedagogical practices and resources which support students’ learning from service. Incorporating reflection as a form of student and community learning from service using the Pace Center’s Reflection Learning Library will be part of this work. Proposing and designing new tools or revamping existing tools, such as the Pace Center’s Field Guide to Service, are project opportunities. (40%)
• Design and implement a Wintersession activity, event or workshop focused on service that is open to all members of the University community to take place during Wintersession 2025 (15%)
• Provide training, advising and on-site support to student leaders and first year students during Community Action (CA), a small-group Orientation program (10%)
• Serve as a Service Focus Staff Mentor for an assigned small group cohort which includes collaborating with faculty and student leaders on planning and coordination of bi-weekly meetings and community outreach (10%)

Cross-center Priorities (25%)

• In collaboration with Pace Center colleagues, support the collection of qualitative and quantitative data related to student learning and community impact through surveys, focus groups, interviews, and other identified strategies; assist in preparation and presentation of assessment findings (15%)
• Contribute to assigned Pace Center working groups that support student development (10%)

A strong candidate for this position would demonstrate:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• Minimum work experience of 1+ years
• Experience with the Princeton undergraduate experience
• Experience with facilitating intergroup dialogue
• Interest in:
  • service and/or social justice broadly
  • developing leadership skills
  • developing projects
• Work independently as well as the ability to collaborate within a team and across teams
• Strong written and spoken communication skills
• Strong relationship building skills
