The Human Resources Team at Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) provides professional guidance and support to approximately 800 full-time and part-time faculty and staff who support students as they transform their lives. The HR Generalist/Benefits Administrator works directly with employees to meet their needs with respect to onboarding, benefits, leave administration, and other human resources functions.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for Human Resources functions including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, hiring, termination, and leaves of absence.
  • Serve as point of contact and administrator for all employee benefits and leaves of absence.
  • Adhere to collective bargaining agreements and College policies and procedures in conducting HR functions.
  • Support the development, assessment, and implementation of college-wide programs to improve retention, quality of work life, employee morale, and equity.
  • Perform HR related administrative tasks including, but not limited to, maintaining electronic and paper employee data files, spreadsheets, query reports, benefit administration, and leaves of absence.
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Department to assure accurate compensation.
  • Assist Management in creating job descriptions, and work to ensure all job descriptions are in compliance with all Collective Bargaining Agreements, state and federal laws, and position specifications.
  • Participate on search committees.
  • Participate in onboarding of new employees including completion of required forms and data entry.
  • Administer FMLA/PFML programs  ensuring certification is received and communication is timely and complete.
  • Assist employees with Worker's Compensation claims, ensuring completion of first report of injury.  Manage Worker's Compensation return-to-work and other issues associated with restrictions.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports utilizing HR/CMS, Data Warehouse, Datatel (Colleague), Interview Exchange, Business Objects, Perceptive Content and Access.
  • Assist in completing surveys and reports including, but not limited to, IPEDS, CUPA, AAUP, and NECHE accreditation while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Conduct exit interviews, process receipt of property, provide necessary separation paperwork, complete termination processes.
  • Perform special projects and related responsibilities as needed.
  • Cross-train in other HR functions and provide back-up for those functions as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required.  Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of Human Resources experience required.
  • Experience with benefits administration a plus.
  • SHRM Certification/PHR Certification a plus.
  • Experience in higher education setting preferred.
  • Experience working in union environment preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills along with interpersonal skills.
  • Strong follow through skills.
  • Ability to adapt to process changes.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to use discretion and independent judgement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Colleague, Interview Exchange and Business Objects a plus.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Salary:  $73,000 - $80,000 annually
