Maintenance Tech III/Certified Pool Operator

FT Non-Exempt - $24.00 to $29.00

Summary:

The Certified Pool Operator Maintenance Tech III for Sun City Summerlin Community
Association, Inc. is responsible for the maintenance of the Association’s indoor/outdoor pools and
spas to the highest attainable conditions for residents, as well as compliance with all health
department standards.

Description of Duties:

Advanced Maintenance and Repair: Perform advanced-level maintenance and repair tasks
on pool equipment, including pumps, filters, heaters, automated control systems, and water
treatment systems. Troubleshoot complex issues, diagnose problems, and implement
solutions to ensure optimal functionality and performance.

Water Quality Management: Monitor and manage water quality in pools and spas,
conducting comprehensive water testing, chemical analysis, and adjustments to maintain
proper balance and compliance with health and safety standards requirements of Southern
Nevada Health District. Utilize advanced techniques and equipment to address water
chemistry challenges and ensure a safe and comfortable swimming environment.

Equipment Installation and Replace: Install and Replace pool equipment and systems,
including pumps, filters, heaters, and automation systems, to improve efficiency,
performance, and energy savings. Coordinate with managers and suppliers to procure
materials and equipment for installation projects.

Training and Mentoring: Provide training, guidance, and mentoring to junior pool
technicians, sharing knowledge, best practices, and troubleshooting techniques to enhance
their skills and proficiency in pool maintenance tasks. Serve as a resource for technical
questions and support to ensure team members can perform their duties effectively.

Safety Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry
standards, and health codes in all pool maintenance activities. Conduct regular safety
inspections, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions to maintain a safe working
environment for staff and pool users.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities,
repairs, equipment installations, and water quality testing results. Prepare detailed reports
and documentation for management, regulatory agencies as required.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Apply safe work practices, follow all safety and OSHA procedures.
• Knowledge and use of related safety devices and personal protective equipment.
• Working knowledge of methods, tools, and materials used in building maintenance.
• Strong electric and plumbing skills.
• Ability to read and interpret building drawings and schematics.
• Ability to safely operate machinery, motorized equipment, and vehicles.
• Organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• Good judgment and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work without direct supervision.
• Ability to work within a flexible schedule (i.e., late, weekend, and/or holiday shifts).
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

• Small hand tools and related equipment
• Electrical gauges and testers
• Power/pressure washer

Minimum Qualifications / Requirements:

• Certified Pool Operator License (CPO)-Mandatory and current with 2+ years’ experience
• Valid Driver License to operate any company vehicle (and minimum state required auto
insurance on personal vehicle, if used for working purposes)
• High School Graduate/GED
• 1 year of Supervisory experience
• May require flexible schedule to work late, weekend and/or holiday shifts
• Able to follow oral and written instruction

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Physical demands: Walking, sitting, standing, bending, kneeling or squatting for prolonged
periods. Emersion in the water while doing repairs and maintenance. Pushing, pulling,
reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds. Sufficient strength and stamina to ensure a
productive work environment within a commercial pool/spa setting.

Work Environment: Risks and discomforts typical of an indoor/outdoor pool/spa facility
including exposure to hot and cold temperatures, wet working conditions, moving parts on
equipment and machinery, dust hazardous chemicals and salt used in the maintenance of
pools. Exposure to noise moderate noise levels. Requires performing job functions in
compliance with all SCSCAI policies and applying all SCSCAI safety policies and
procedures.
