Description
The Department of Pharmacy Practice of the Irma Lerma School of Pharmacy at Texas A&M University invites applications for two full-time, academic professional track (non-tenure), faculty positions with an 11-month academic appointment beginning January 2, 2023. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Instructional/Clinical Associate Professor or Instructional/Clinical Professor depending on qualifications. The new faculty positions provide the opportunity for individuals with a strong commitment to an academic career emphasizing innovative teaching and scholarly activities.
Reporting to the Department Head of Pharmacy Practice, the faculty members will serve as mentors to junior faculty by supporting the development of teaching skills; encouraging the scholarship of teaching and learning; providing curricular oversight of team-taught courses; and promoting effective team teaching in courses taught by faculty in two academic departments.
60% Teaching Responsibilities
The successful candidates should each have an earned professional pharmacy degree (PharmD) or doctoral degree in pharmacy or a related discipline and five years of didactic teaching experience in a pharmacy or health related program. A minimum PGY-1 residency or equivalent experience is preferred. The successful candidates must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Successful candidates will have a strong background in teaching and curricular oversight, and will provide vision, direction, and leadership to the faculty to improve curricular effectiveness through the integration of active learning and other educational strategies, use of modern technologies, development of course management skills, and curricular innovation and oversight. Additionally, successful candidates will have a strong commitment to scholarship of teaching and learning and its assessment.

- Teaching within the longitudinal Integrated Pharmacotherapy (IPT), Rounds and Recitations, and team-taught courses.
- Teaching and facilitating the Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) benchmark and course offerings to ensure a longitudinal, structured approach to assessment of student competencies.
- Oversight of the IPT and Rounds and Recitations courses to ensure consistency of course delivery and policies, appropriateness and relevance of content, and effectiveness of the integrated teaching team, with a focus on team communication within and across departments.
- Oversight of the Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) benchmark and course offerings to ensure a longitudinal, structured approach to assessment of student competencies.
- Mentor faculty in scholarly activities.
- Develop and deliver faculty development in active learning techniques, course management skills, and the use of technology for course improvement.
- Service to include but not limited to committee service, student applicant interviews, and student advising
- Performs other duties as assigned.
