Who We Are

The Student Affairs Marketing and Communications team at Texas A&M University provides high-quality, and timely marketing and communication support to the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and its 17 departments. It also communicates to Texas A&M students the value of services, events, and programs available within the division through a variety of marketing campaigns and channels. We aspire to be the trusted marketing and communication source for student affairs among Texas A&M students and our division staff, and to provide high-impact work experiences to Texas A&M students who are pursuing degrees in marketing, communication, and related disciplines.

What We Want

A talented marketing and communication professional with expertise and insight in social media and website management who can think strategically while handling hands-on daily tasks that include visual and written content development. The ideal candidate will have experience managing social media channels and website development targeting college students, will think collaboratively and work well with our division team, and will approach work with an open mind and can-do attitude.

The Communications Coordinator, under direction of the marketing and communication director, provides leadership, strategic direction, and hands-on implementation of the social media, websites, and public relations projects of the central marketing and communications group in the Division of Student Affairs. Performs expert-level social media management, website development, and public relations management.

Responsibilities:

  • Social Media and Website Management - Manages all aspects of the divisions social media and website programs (studentaffairs.tamu.edu). Develops social media and website content strategy and solutions for the division's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Flickr channels. Performs expert-level social media and website management and consultation work to division partners.
  • Strategy and Best Practices Oversight -Provides strategic direction and oversight of marketing projects involving social media, websites, and other digital platforms, and printed materials. Researches and implements social media and website best practices. Provides oversight, leadership, and guidance for the website, social media, and public relations initiatives for the division. Researches and develops tools that aid in the development of the division's social media, website, and public relations programs.
  • Public Relations Management - Plans, researches, writes, edits, and manages distribution of written communications for the Division of Student Affairs. Acts as the division's liaison with Texas A&M's Division of Marketing and Communication for day-to-day press releases, media advisories, and other public relations projects and initiatives.
  • Social Media and Website Assessment - Manages strategic and daily assessment of social media and websites using digital tools. Provides oversight, leadership, and guidance to the division on social media metrics tools and Google analytics. Researches and develops tools that aid in the development of social media and websites.
  • Supervision of Employees - Supervises and coaches student employees.
  • Meeting and Committee Participation - Participates in Division of Student Affairs committees as requested.
  • Other - Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or graphic design, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years of related experience in social media management, web development, print and electronic media, marketing or related design field

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiar with basic Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro
  • Skilled at social media content development and management
  • Ability to adept in all aspects of photography and videography
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
  • Must have the ability to operate a camera to create professional static and moving images

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in marketing or communications
  • Five to seven years of related experience in marketing, communication, web development, print and electronic media, or related design field
  • Experience supervising and coaching student and full-time employees

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Any or all of the following: Udacity digital marketing nanodegree; Hootsuite Academy; Twitter Flight School; social media marketing on LinkedIn Learning; social media marketing with Boot Camp Digital; BluePrint Certification with Facebook; Content Marketing Institute University; social media certification from a reputable university or college; Google Analytics IQ; Adobe Certified Expert; Google Mobile Web Specialist; Hubspot Academy.
  • Familiarity and interest in marketing and communication strategy and planing.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and presenting information to others.
