Position Description

The Office of the Dean at the UMKC School of Science and Engineering seeks qualified candidates for the position ofAVR Coordinator. In this role, the successful candidate will coordinate day-to-day operations for Augmented and Virtual Reality (AVR) facilities within the SSE Free Enterprise and Research Center. The ideal candidate should have a record of demonstrated ability to collaborate successfully, manage multiple priorities, and positively engage with others.

Job duties will include, but are not limited to:

· Coordinate day-to-day operations, scheduling, and maintenance of the Augmented and Virtual Reality (AVR) facilities within the SCE Free Enterprise and Research Center (FEC). Coordinate in-house training, events, tours, and hands-on demos for faculty, students, and industry.

· Provide maintenance, support, assistance, and troubleshooting of AVR computing and visualization resources.

· Supervise student workers in the AVR facilities, including training, timekeeping, and expectations.

· Work collaboratively with the Fabrication Studio Manager to ensure a well-organized and efficient lab environment, including maintaining a comprehensive inventory system for lab supplies and equipment. Provide front-line technical assistance to students utilizing the student fabrication lab, including 3d printing assistance and troubleshooting.

· Assist in the development and implementation of AVR applications using industry-standard development tools and platforms. Assist in the creation of AVR applications and experiences for research and educational purposes. Collaborate with researchers, faculty, and students to define project requirements and translate them into engaging and functional AVR experiences.

· Assist the academic departments and noncredit programs in creating, identifying, and scheduling programming for students, community, and partners.

· Regularly create, update, or correct content on the Innovation Studio website, including any social media. Ensure information remains accurate and current. Showcase Innovation Studio projects (i.e. 3d printing projects, AVR applications, student projects, etc.) on the Innovation Studio website. Identify areas for website improvement.

· Promote and facilitate involvement of faculty, students, and the greater Kansas City community to utilize and develop for AVR.

Shift

Working Hours

Full time, Monday–Friday, 8 am – 5 pm and weekends/evenings as needed. This position is for the Innovation Studio, located at the UMKC Volker Campus, Kansas City, MO. Working remotely is not applicable to this position.

Minimum Qualifications

· A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology preferred. Experience in business or entrepreneurship preferred. University teaching experience preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$52,000 to $60,000 annual. Commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
