Post Doctoral Associate in Proteostasis and Lipid Dysregulation in Retinal Neurons

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Ekaterina Lobanova in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh. The laboratory studies pathogenic changes in lipid metabolism and protein degradation processes in retinal diseases with the aim of identifying and validating new therapeutic strategies to treat blindness.

Duties:

• Development of assays, tools, and models to study the contribution of lipid and proteostasis dysregulation to the defects in synaptogenesis and survival of retinal neurons

• Development of assays for isolation, pharmacological treatment, and imaging of retinal neurons from healthy and degenerating tissues

• Development of assays for proteomics, lipidomic, and metabolomic analysis of retinal neurons

• Preparation of tissues and development of workflows for gene expression studies, including bioinformatics analysis

• Preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and grant applications

The postdoctoral trainee will be encouraged and mentored to develop original scientific directions, apply for grants, and present their work at national meetings.

Qualification of candidate: recent Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or related discipline.

Salary: Based on NRSA scale
