This is a temporary position with pay of $15.00 per hour. This position is not benefit-eligible.

Hours: M - F 7:30 am-4:30 pm

Duties
The mobile parking attendant will play a crucial role in ensuring that parking operations run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to a well-organized transportation system within the university environment.
  1. Patrol Assigned Areas:
    Regularly move between different parking lots or sections to monitor vehicle compliance with parking rules.
    2. Issue Parking Citations by Using Technology Effectively:
    Coordinates with the Fee Control Clerks and uses the T2 mobile enforcement device to issue citations for vehicles violating parking regulations, such as not parking in their assigned area or not displaying proper permits.
    3. Provide Customer Service:
    Assist drivers with questions about parking rules, and directions to destinations within the university, or help with pay station issues.
    4. Report Incidents:
    Notify the appropriate department when encountering issues like damaged signage, malfunctioning equipment that requires escalation, or safety hazards.
    5. Manage Traffic Flow:
    During peak times or events, assist in directing traffic and guiding vehicles to available spaces to prevent congestion.
    6. Perform Light Maintenance:
    Responsible for basic upkeep tasks such as keeping the machine clean and free of excess debris, restocking ticket machine paper, or reporting equipment that requires repair.
Knowledge of Parking Regulations

Understand the specific parking rules and regulations of the university or area they are patrolling.
  1. Customer Service Skills:
    Be friendly, helpful, and able to provide clear information to drivers about parking policies and directions.
  2. Attention to Detail:
    Notice small but important details such as permit expiration dates, unauthorized parking in reserved spaces, or incorrect use of parking zones.
  3. Conflict Resolution Abilities:
    Handle disputes with disgruntled vehicle owners calmly and professionally, seeking to resolve issues amicably.
  4. Basic Technological Proficiency:
    Operate handheld devices for ticketing, use apps for tracking space availability, or work with license plate recognition systems.
  5. Communication Skills:
    Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; this may include writing reports or explaining enforcement actions.
  6. Physical Mobility:
    Be able to move around different areas quickly, sometimes on foot for extended periods or through the use of our department vehicle.
  7. Observation Skills:
    Keep an eye out for any unusual activity that could indicate safety concerns or require intervention from security personnel.

Qualifications :

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:High school diploma or GED (TRANSCRIPTREQUIRED)

LICENSE: Must possess a valid Tennessee driver’s license or a valid license from a neighboring state, if resident of that state, and must maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of employment.
