The Office of Enrollment Management Communications at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, (UTK) invites applications and nominations for our Visit and Events Recruitment Outreach Coordinator position. We are seeking candidates who can contribute in meaningful ways to enhancing the accessibility of higher education, fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment, improving the recruitment and graduation of our students.

The Position:

This is an on-campus position with some hybrid/remote work schedule flexibility.

The Visit and Events Recruitment Outreach Coordinator supports marketing and communications goals and strategies for the Office of Enrollment Management Communications, and is responsible for:

• Project management and coordination for a variety of communications deliverables as it relates to the visit and event experiences.

• Content development across print and digital channels.

• Management of email and SMS communication flows targeted at specific prospective-student, current-student, or influencer audiences.

• Implementation of content marketing and social media strategies and tactics.

The position will assess communication needs as well as plan, coordinate, and execute integrated marketing and communication plans and strategies related to events and campus visits. Position will contribute new ideas about ways to communicate and impact prospective and current students. This position must be very organized, extremely detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks at the same time, meet deadlines, and follow through on tasks to successful and timely completion. The successful candidate must have excellent grammar, writing, and proofreading skills; must possess an understanding of digital marketing and digital communications tactics; and must demonstrate creativity, critical thinking, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills; along with a personal commitment to excellence and efficiency, and a passion to serve future and current students of all ages in achievement of their educational goals.


Qualifications :

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree must be obtained by the date of hire; current students nearing graduation are encouraged to apply.

2 years of professional experience related to duties and responsibilities; OR,

4 years of student employment, student volunteer work, or internship experience will be considered.



Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor's specifically in communications, marketing, public relations, or Master's degree.

• Writing content with a marketing voice for a variety of audiences with the ability to adhere to writing styles/rules.

• Participating in marketing/communications strategy development and implementation.

• Simultaneously managing successful completion of multiple communication-related projects.

• Writing and maintaining marketing-related content on digital platforms, including email marketing.

• Coordinating and collaborating with graphic designers, writers, photographers, printers, etc.

• Coordinating multiple details and deadlines with accuracy and urgency.

• A basic understanding of HTML coding.

• Prior experience in higher education marketing

• Prior experience using Slate CRM, Salesforce CRM, or a similar CRM system; project management system (Asana); WordPress CMS; and Adobe Creative Suite.

• Ability to work with diverse constituencies and prioritize multiple work responsibilities in time-sensitive situations.

• Ability to exercise good judgment, handle different situations with confidence and leadership, and be flexible.

• Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at various levels with a variety of backgrounds.

• Knowledge and understanding of one or more production disciplines: print, digital, email, SMS, social, and broadcast (multi-media).

• Knowledge of Macintosh operating systems, Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Creative Suite.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, customer service skills, and interpersonal skills.

• Must have excellent grammar, writing, and proofreading skills

• Knowledge an understanding of marketing and communications practices.

• Must demonstrate creativity, critical thinking, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.

• Must demonstrate a personal commitment to excellence and efficiency and a passion to serve future and current Volunteers of all ages in the achievement of their educational goals.



Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to work with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver).

• Knowledge of higher education workflow.

• Knowledge and understanding of email and SMS marketing, in addition to one or more production disciplines: print, digital, and broadcast (multi-media).

• Sound knowledge of and experience with Slate or Salesforce CRM system and Asana project management system.

• Knowledge of university style and communications standards.

The Enrollment Management (EM) division comprises more than 190 full-time staff who serve our students through the following departments and functions: Undergraduate Admissions, International Recruitment, Transfer Center, One Stop Student Services, Financial Aid and Scholarships, the Center for Financial Wellness, University Registrar, Pre-college Research Excellence Programs, EM Research & Analytics, EM Communications, and EM Operations.
