Distribution Manager

Lead the team who delivers our products.

Our leader will:

- coordinate the distribution of the Vail Daily newspaper and magazines

- manage employees and independent contractors

- manage payroll and press run numbers to minimize returns

- ensure maximum pickup of our products

Position Summary:

The Distribution Manager role is to coordinate the distribution of the Vail Daily newspaper and magazines using a combination of employees and independent contractors. This includes cost effectively managing the payroll as well as managing the press run numbers to minimize returns. This is achieved by placing the newspaper and magazines in prime locations to ensure maximum pickup that benefits advertisers as well as readers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the liaison between Vail Daily and the carriers who deliver products for Vail Daily ie. newspapers, magazines and other products to be determined.

• Manage the distribution employees to achieve department and company goals.

• Contract and manage a team of carriers to deliver all products.

• Responsible for the delivery of all products in a timely and cost-effective manner.

• Able to evaluate and implement efficiencies in order to continue to add new products to the distribution process.

• Ability to maintain accurate accounting of all operations, both costs and revenue. Continually finding ways to reduce costs and maintain profitability of product delivery.

• Develop a successful delivery operation though selection, contracting, training, coaching and motivating a high-quality distribution team to meet delivery expectations of our Vail Daily products.

• Maintain current and up to date distribution schedule, with adequate coverage at all times, monitor needs and update as necessary.

• Assist in and maintain standards of circulation service for our advertisers.

• Interact with the other publications in the company and external customers to achieve satisfactory delivery outcomes.

• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to interact with others and remain focused while dealing with multiple objectives and timelines.

• Capable of dealing with stress-related situations with an unwavering commitment to customer service.

• Self-motivation with ability to work independently.

• Past supervisory experience is preferred.

• Basic accounting knowledge

• Ability to work flexible schedule.

• Strong people and organizational skills with ability to set priorities and give attention to detail.

• Ability to work in a team setting and embrace the concept of teamwork.

• Lifting – frequently up to 25 pounds; maximum of 50 pounds
